With apologies, my clumsy cut-and-paste missed a couple of critical 
lines in the XML:

<responseProcessing>
   <responseIf>
[... as before ...]
   </responseIf>
<!-- responseIf can't follow responseIf -->
  </responseCondition>
  <responseCondition>
   <responseIf>
[ ... as before ...]
   </responseIf>
  </responseCondition>
</responseProcessing>
